The Environmental Horticulture – Nursery and Landscape Management major at Colorado State University provides extensive training in landscape plant culture and use; and also develops skills needed to start and manage a nursery, garden center, arboriculture, or landscape management firm.

Nursery specialists produce trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and herbaceous perennials for the landscape industry.

Graduates of the Environmental Horticulture – Nursery and Landscape Management major at Colorado State University become nursery and landscape managers who oversee and manage general landscape operations; choose the type and quantity of horticultural plants to be grown; select and purchase seed, fertilizers, and pest control chemicals; hire employees, direct and coordinate work activities; manage record-keeping, and implement marketing plans.

Supporting courses are taught in plant and soil science, pest management, business management, horticulture and plant materials. An internship is required to ensure graduates have practical experience.
